Why We Built WTFDIB
The rule of the thumb at Zetify when building new apps is to create something useful for yourself. We had a few questions of our own and didn't see anyone else doing a good job helping people find answers to their Christian questions or bible questions online. Thus WTFDIB was born.
We did our best to incorporate the right set of features into WTFDIB to make finding answers easier. During our development process we looked at a variety of answer sites and pulled the best ideas in existence. However if you have a suggestion please send us your thoughts and we'll add them to our list.
With over 140 Christian denominations there will be disagreements on particular theological points, however we feel the other 99% of Christianity is worth discussing and discovering.
How we came up with the name WTFDIB
We wanted a name that was fun, had meaning within Christianity, and relevant to what we were building. The WTFDIB acronym (What The Flippity Flop Do I Believe) is a fun play on words that accurately describes the question a lot of us have inside our think melons.
The flip flops come from James 1:22-25 which says Christianity isn't learned, it has to be walked. Having complete knowledge of the bible doesn't make you a Christian. Living the Christian life and most importantly having faith in Jesus as your savior makes you a Christian.
James 1:22-25
22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.
No matter how much WTFDIB helps your knowledge you still have to take the leap of faith.
