Life's a Quilt

I got to thinking about it and came up with the fact that life is like a quilt.
Why do I say this? Well, if you think about the comparison, we have various phases and situations we go through which get added to the tail of out life. You go through school and you have your friends, they make an impression on your life, and it's like another patch is added to your quilt. You fall in love and, in effect add another patch, maybe soft and cuddly, red in color.
When you step back and look at your life, or quilt in this example, you see a lot of different parts. Some are nice and neat, organized phases when your life plan was completely in line with what you intended. But, there are also those messed up parts, the times that show up as ragged, worn patches that you don't like the best, but have made a lasting impression on you.
     Which one's better?
     Neither.
In my book, I think it's the entire quilt of life that makes the difference. How well does it hold up when it comes down to it? How does you life shape out when all the little pieces add together?
