Are we allowed to pray for our football team to win?

Tonight is the first Monday night NFL game on ESPN and my favorite team the Oakland Raiders are playing their home opener.
The Raiders have been awful since they lost the superbowl in 2002 and have yet to recover. I really, really want them to win tonight and when I sit down to pray it's on my mind.
It seems appropriate to put forward the true confessions and desires of our heart when praying. At the same time asking God for a win seems petty at best. Though what is and isn't petty in God's eyes is a mystery to us. For all we know God's been waiting since the dawn of Eden for the NFL to take shape.
Based on our understanding of the bible we know what's important to God and how to live our lives, but the bible never said "don't ask for a promotion" or "don't pray for your team to win."
Does everything we ask for have to be a big deal or can we pray about the little things as well? In some bible studies it feels like people only pray about big life changing things and don't talk a lot about the small stuff. Those small things in life add up and it's good to get them out there and off your chest.
So today I'm praying for a Raiders win at home. After all God must have an incredible sense of humor.
